Rishikesh - Deoriatal - Tungnath
I truly explored Rishikesh on my trip to Deoriatal - Tungnath. We were three of us. An early morning Shatabdi dropped us at Haridwar and then we took a connecting train to Rishikesh. The holy city of Rishikesh has become a base for multiple routes and has grown itself multifold without expanding geographically.
View from Beatles Cafe |
We were stuck in traffic in Rishikesh most of the afternoon. It took us more than an hour to reach Tapovan where we had booked a hotel. Due to some communication gap on booking.com site, the room was no longer available for us. We were tired.
Enjoying the view from Beatles Cafe |
We came back to Tapovan road and booked a hotel which was surprisingly reasonably priced and really comfortable. Right on the main road, it was right next to the road that descended to Laxman Jhula. It was a great deal we had.
Rishikesh from Ram Jhula |
By the time we checked into our hotel in Tapovan and refreshed ourselves it was already evening. Once ready we immediately went for Beatles Cafe which is now one of my favourites. The view of Ganges and the sunset from here is amazing. The food is also good but pricey. We also explored the nearby market.
Ram Jhula at night |
We then went to Ram Jhula area for light dinner at Chotiwala. The iconic restaurant serves sumptuous thali at reasonable rates. We enjoyed the food and came back to Ram Jhula for photographs. It was already late in the night and we were exhausted after a long day of travel. Next morning we started for Sari village which is the base camp for Deoriatal trek.
