We were in Dehradun to attend a marriage. We had the morning to spare and so we searched the internet for what we can do. We saw good reviews of a place mysteriously called the Robber’s Cave. It was enticing enough for us to take a trip. It was a half hour drive from our hotel.
Entrance to Robber’s Cave |
We parked our vehicle at a large parking lot near Robber’s Cave entrance. It was almost full which was strange. There is a short walk to the entrance where a lot of vendors were renting bathroom slippers. Why? The entry ticket was nominal. We were inside in no time with our shoes on. Then we realised our mistake.
Walk in the water @ Robber’s Cave |
The first glimpse of Robber’s Cave will win you over. A narrow slit in the mountain is where you walk in with knee deep water which is part of a waterfall and hence fresh & clean. Of course we had to take our shoes off and carry it in our hand. Suddenly we were missing the bathroom slippers.
Restaurant in the middle |
The narrow gap twists, turns and meanders for more than a kilometer and it takes more than an hour to just walk through and out in Robber’s Cave. We were surprised at every turn. There were mini waterfalls, small treks and climbs, caves and whatnot and we enjoyed every bit of it.
Lucky people with slippers / sandals |
The cold water was refreshing in summer but still we were exhausted by the time we were halfway. There was a beautiful restaurant with tables and chairs half submerged in water. We settled there. We ate maggi and drank hot cup of tea to refresh ourselves.
Feet in water @ Robber’s Cave |
We wanted to venture further to see what new shape the landscaping takes but it was already time for us to go back to attend the afternoon ceremony of the marriage that we were here to attend. We walked back the same way and by the time we drove out of the parking lot we realised the peak hour had just begun.
