We started early morning from Rishikesh for Sari village. Within an hour we were at Devprayag. I have been to this place couple of times but its beauty never ceases to amaze me. Two rivers, one muddy another pristine, meet here to create Ganges. We stopped and descended down to the point of merger and just stayed there for a while.

We had to keep moving and after a short break we started again, this time only stopping for breakfast before we saw a temple in the middle of river Alakananda that was flowing next to us right from Devprayag. This was the famous Dhari Devi temple. We again went down to the river and prayed to the goddess.

We reached Sari village early in the evening. It was a long drive from Rishikesh. Thanks to a comfortable Innova and just the three of us, the ride was comfortable. We had stopped near Rudraprayag for lunch. The road conditions and bypass road to Rudraprayag were another reason our trip was a happy one.

We checked into our modest hotel rooms which was exactly opposite the entrance for Deoriatal trek. The hotel was rated very high for a reason. The hotel manager was extremely helpful and guided us in every way possible.
Sari Village |
We went down to the Sari Village to see village life. There was school at the edge and an Indiahikes camp nearby. Trekking down and then up was a reasonable warmup for the next day. Deoriatal is a day trek if you do not proceed to Tungnath. We slept well.
