Nagtibba trek - Part 1

Nagtibba Trek Part 1 - Part 2
  • Book The Goat Village in advance. You will not regret it.
  • Better to have own vehicle. It will help specially in the return leg if you want to reach Mussoorie.
  • Plan two nights if you want to enjoy in leisure, else one night stay is enough.
  • Nagtibba is a day trek. Some people attempt it early morning to see the sunrise.

I have been to mussoorie so many times and heard of Nagtibba so often that it was a surprise when we found ourselves going there on a split second decision. We were drinking tea at the Mall Road in Mussoorie. It was 4PM. We were coming from Kanatal after visiting the famous Surkanda Devi Temple. What should we do now? I tossed in the idea of Nagtibba and in few minutes we were on the way.

Beautiful Pantwari Village from above

We headed towards Pantwari which is 2 hours from Mussoorie. From Pantwari we had to walk for another couple hours to reach the base camp of Nagtibba trek. On the way I remembered one of my friends telling me about a beautiful resort near the base camp called the Goat Village. We traced the number on Google maps and called.

The Goat Village Resort

The manager was friendly. We negotiated on a price for the night stay and food. He told us someone will accompany us from Pantwari to another two kilometers into the hills where we can park our SUV and then climb up to the resort. By 8 we were in the resort. It was beautiful.

Valley side of The Goat Village Resort

The Goat Village is one its kind in this area. Luxurious cottages were spaced around a hilltop. Well marked paths, a high hill in front that we later came to know was the Nagtibba hills and a deep valley on the other side. We were amazed how we got this place at the price we negotiated. Actually the resort had opened after a gap of three months because of the 3rd covid wave and it was a weekday. We were plain lucky.

Next day being Friday the resort was completely booked. However today was only two of us occupying one cottage in the entire resort. Like a professionally run resort we were served the entire food basket and being hungry we devoured the delicious food. We slept like babies and woke on time for an early breakfast.
