Humayun's Tomb

Bhaiya was in Delhi. We had to go somewhere. We thought why not Humayun's Tomb. Its close. Its a popular heritage site. Most importantly, in our more than 10 years of stay in Delhi we never visited the place before. So I called upon my cousin Animesh and the three of us ventured on a short exploration.

Isa Khan's tomb

We started of with Purana Quila which is close to the Tomb but is a different structure. There were not many points to explore and we quickly settled for the tomb area. Upon entering the area the main structure of tomb is not visible. Instead there is another Isa Khan's Tomb which is in octagonal shape and worth a visit. There is a dark staircase to the top.

We moved further to the main tomb complex. Crossing a large gate we realized what was in front of us. It was an exact replica of the Taj Mahal with minute tweaks - only that it was made of red stones and not marbles. We came to know that it was the inspiration behind the Taj.

We took few pictures around and returned with a revelation - never to undermine the value of what is close to us.
